Kombucha on Tap
-
Freshness: When kombucha is dispensed from a keg, the exposure to airborne contaminants is removed. This allows the beverage to be served by the ounce for up to 12 months. Compare this to the single-day timeframe of bottled/canned kombucha, and it’s easy to see why more and more bars and restaurants are adding kombucha to their draft list.
Economy: Maximizing profits is important, and buying wholesale kombucha by half or sixth barrel kegs is a price-conscious way to keep your stores stocked.
Environment: Kegs are infinitely reusable, and unlike bottle and canned beverages, they do not require plastic wrap to transport.
-
Kombucha tap lines should be cleaned once every 1-3 months.
Like any draft beverage, keeping your kombucha tap lines clean is essential to maintaining a fresh taste and meeting health and safety standards. Unlike other sugary draft beverages that leave lines prone to harmful microbial growth, kombucha has anti-microbial properties. While this doesn’t grant kombucha a free pass, it does mean that cleaning happens less regularly.
-
Not as difficult as you might think. Some kombucha kegs will integrate directly with your existing tap system. At MOR, we dispense our kombucha through a reliable and easy-to-use kegerator. To make it even easier, we handle the installation, maintenance, and repairs.
-
A properly cooled and sealed kombucha keg has roughly the same shelf life as a sealed can or bottle of kombucha, so you can expect a keg of kombucha to stay fresh for up to 12 months. How long the keg stays full, on the other hand, will be a much shorter time frame.

Bar owners can expect to see healthy profit margins for kombucha. While the price per ounce is greater than other non-alcoholic draft beverages, the profit margin for kombucha on tap is extremely lucrative.

Yes! Kombucha provides bars with an excellent non-alcoholic offering that patrons abstaining from alcohol will love. Kombucha is also a natural mixer, particularly with clear spirits. Yes and no.
You need a gas to push the cold brew through the keg, and the CO2 that we use for kombucha will sour the coffee. To keep your cold brew tasting its best, your keg will always have nitrogen.
If you prefer not to have the creamy nitro cascading effect, we offer an option that is pushed with nitrogen, but pours as plain, flat cold brew.
